CHELSEA ACE BILLY GILMOUR KEEN ON MOVING TO EVERTON THIS SUMMER

According to talkSPORT, Everton may have received a boost in their pursuit of Chelsea prospect Billy Gilmour. The Scottish international has emerged as a loan target for the Toffees, and the youngster is open to the switch as he wants to reunite with Frank Lampard. Gilmour joined Chelsea from Scottish giants Rangers in the summer of 2017. The 21-year-old broke into the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge under Lampard, making his senior debut in 2019. The young midfielder went on to make a big impression with some of his performances early in his career and looked primed for a more prominent role until an injury derailed his progress.

Gilmour spent the last season on loan at Norwich City and fared decently despite the Canaries getting relegated from the Premier League. Now back at Chelsea, the Scotsman finds himself way down the pecking order and is unlikely to find regular game-time under Thomas Tuchel. As a result, Gilmour could be primed for another loan exit from Chelsea, and Everton have shown an interest in the 21-year-old. The Toffees have plenty of work to do in the transfer window but not much money to spend due to their FFP violations. So, Lampard & co. will have to rely on player sales to generate funds or look at loan deals or free transfers in the market.

Midfield is an area that Lampard wishes to strengthen, with Fabian Delph departing and Andre Gomes likely to be moved on as well. There remain question marks over the future of Allan, who could be allowed to leave if the right offer came along. It would create some vacancies in the midfield department at Goodison Park, which Everton are keen on addressing.
To that end, Gilmour has emerged as a target, with Lampard considering a loan move for the 21-year-old Chelsea prospect. Now, it is being claimed that the youngster himself would be willing to make the switch to Everton as he is keen on reuniting with the former Rangers starlet, even if it would be on a temporary basis.
