UNITED WINGER MENTIONS HIS TWO IDOLS

Manchester United winger Jadon Sanchohas mentioned his football idols and they are surprisingly not connected to the Red Devils. The summer signing named his idols while he was speaking with popular English media outlet TalkSPORTat the end of last month.

Sancho mentioned Chelsea legend Frank Lampard as his football idol and that he loved his composure on the ball during his time as a player. Ex-England senior national team midfielder Frank Lampard is the all-time leading goalscorer in the history of Chelsea and he was until January, the Chelsea manager having been appointed into the role in 2019. He was sacked and replaced by German tactician Thomas Tuchel who led the Blues to the Champions League triumph last season.

Apart from Frank Lampard, Manchester United star Jadon Sancho also mentioned Ivorian football legend Didier Drogba as his idol. Lampard and Drogba won several titles together at Chelsea including the 2012 UEFA Champions League title. The two club legends were part of the Chelsea squad that won two straight Premier League titles with Jose Mourinho in charge between 2005 and 2007. They also won the 2009/10 Premier League title together under Italian tactician and current Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti.

New Manchester United signing Sancho left German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund in the summer to sign for the Red Devils in an €85m deal. After a slow start for his new club, Sancho has picked up his form in recent weeks.

Sancho also told the aforementioned media portal that he supported Chelsea when the likes of Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba were at the club. He would go on to score against Chelsea in the colours of Manchester United as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw in a Premier League encounter held at Stamford Bridge last month.
