TUCHEL DEMANDS FOR LAMPARD TARGETS

New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has asked for the same transfer targets demanded by his predecessor, Frank Lampard. Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as the Blues boss at the start of this year and has led the club to an unbeaten run spanning 14 games in all competitions. The unbeaten sequence includes victories at fellow London team Tottenham Hotspur and holders Liverpool in the league as well as Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Ex-Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager Tuchel has been able to rescue Chelsea's season since he was appointed as the replacement for the sacked Frank Lampard.

The Blues were heading for an uncertain season under Frank Lampard before the club's hierarchy decided to pull the plug on his position at the club. The Chelsea legend was just in his second season as the club's manager. According to Transfer Window Podcast, Frank Lampard wanted Chelsea to sign quality players in the centre back and left-back or right-back positions last summer in addition to the £230m transfer splurge made by the club. Lampard got England international Ben Chilwell at left-back but the club could not sign a younger centre back as they had to settle for veteran player Thiago Silva. Ex-AC Milan and PSG Thiago Silva has been prone to injury for the large parts of the one-year deal signed when the Brazilian national team player joined the Blues last summer. English journalist Ian McGarry is the host of Transfer Window Podcast and he revealed that Tuchel also want to bolster his squad at Chelsea in the same positions as Frank Lampard.

It was disclosed that Tuchel wants a new central defender and a new right-back ahead of the new season which begins in August 2021. Tuchel and Chelsea have been linked with attackers like Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund and Romelu Lukaku of Inter Milan but it looks like the transfer focus of the Blues boss is at the back rather than upfront.
