Ramos Emotional About Di Stefano Demise

Sergio Ramos is deeply sad about the demise of the former Real Madrid striker Alfredo Di Stefano. He went to the club ground yesterday for paying tribute to the Argentinean legend.
Di Stefano passed away a couple of days back after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 88 years of age.

With Ramos, there were some other Madrid players including Iker Casillas present there at Bernabeu as well and every one had a lot of nice things to say about Di Stefano.

Ramos said, “He has been a role model for a number of players of the past generation. I am extremely sad that we’ve lost someone like him.”

“Don Alfredo did a lot of hard work to keep the club’s standard high. I think each and every player coming through the ranks here at Madrid should be told about Don and his contribution.”
“He had that ‘never say die’ attitude. He just didn’t know the meaning of giving up.”

Di Stefano played for Real Madrid for a total of 11 years i.e. from 1953 to 1964. The Los Blancos had bought him from a Colombian club Millonarios.

The former Argentina international featured for Madrid in 282 top tier games and he scored 216 times in those matches. These stats themselves speak out what kind of a player Di Stefano was.
Real Madrid became the Champions of Europe five times while Di Stefano was playing for them.

Apart from playing for Real Madrid, Di Stefano worked for them as a manager too. He had a couple of tenures at Bernabeu as the team’s head.

First time, he was appointed as Los Blancos boss in 1982 and then, he returned for his second stint in 1990. His second stint was just one year long though.
