MORRIS UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR SWANSEA JOB

Former Chelsea player Jody Morris is said to be under consideration for the managerial job at Welsh team Swansea City. The English Championship outfit don't have a manager with less than two weeks before the new season starts after Simon Cooper left the job last week.

Cooper was the man who replaced present Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter at Swansea City when he left the Welsh team to take up the managerial role at the Amex Stadium. Cooper led the former Premier League team to the Championship playoffs in each of his two seasons at the club including last season when the Swans went all the way to the final before they were easily dispatched by Brentford. Swansea City missed out on a place in the Premier League as a result of the 2-0 defeat to London team Brentford.

Ex-Chelsea assistant manager Morris is said to be one of the two managers in the running for the vacant managerial job at Swansea City alongside MK Dons manager Russell Martin. Morris has been without a job since Frank Lampard was sacked as the Blues boss in January. He was the right hand man to Frank Lampard at Chelsea before the club made the decision to replace its all-time goalscorer with Tuchel.

Frank Lampard and Jody Morris were in the Chelsea dugout together when they battled to secure a Champions League place at the end of the 2019/20 season with a transfer ban.

Morris was also the assistant manager to Frank Lampard when he started out his managerial career at Derby County. They both ensured that the Rams reached the playoffs in their sole season in the dugout at Pride Park. The Swansea City target spent four years as a youth team coach at Chelsea shortly after his retirement and he has the opportunity to mentor players like Mason Mount.

42-year-old Morris enjoyed a lot of success with the Chelsea u-18s during his time as a youth team coach at the club's training ground in Cobham.

Apart from Mount, centre back FikayoTomori also thrived under him in the Chelsea youth team.
