LAMPARD LEADS RACE FOR MANAGERIAL JOB

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is reportedly leading the hunt for a new manager at Premier League side Crystal Palace. South London giants Crystal Palace are looking for a new manager with current boss Roy Hodgson set to leave this summer at the end of his contract with the Selhurst Park outfit.

The report from the Daily Telegraph stated that Frank Lampard is at the top of the list of managerial targets for Palace in their quest to find a suitable replacement for Hodgson who has led them to mid-table in each of the last three seasons in the Premier League. Hodgson replaced Dutchman Frank De Boer after the Ajax Amsterdam legend was sacked after just four games.

Blues legend Frank Lampard is the all-time leading goalscorer in the history of the club and he started his managerial career at Derby County in the English Championship two seasons. He led the Rams to the playoff final before they were beaten by Aston Villa. His good record at Derby County prompted the Chelsea hierarchy to name him as the replacement for Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri at the club.

Frank Lampard was able to overcome a transfer ban to secure Champions League football for the Blues via fourth position in the league. He was also able to give several young players a lot of playing time in the top flight.

After an impressive first season at Chelsea, Lampard made a bright start to his second campaign as the Blues boss until things fell apart between November and December 2020. He was sacked at the start of January 2021 after a run of three wins in 11 league outings. His replacement Thomas Tuchel has been able to take the club from tenth place to fourth place on the Premier League log. In addition, the former Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Mainz 05 and Borussia Dortmund manager led the club to both the FA Cup and the Champions League finals.
