LAMPARD IN NORWICH CITY TALKS

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is in talks to become the new Norwich City manager. This is according to the report from Daily Mirror which stated that Frank Lampard is the frontrunner for the managerial job at Norwich City. The England international is said to be one of the three candidates on the Norwich City managerial shortlist.

Norwich City are looking for a new manager after Daniel Farke was sacked by the club. The German ended his four-year spell at Norwich City with an away win at fellow newcomers Brentford in the Premier League. It was the first win for Norwich City in the English top flight this season. The Canaries raced into a two-goal lead in the first half through the impressive Mathias Norman and TeemuPukki spot kick) before Rico Henry pulled one back to setup a grandstand finish. In the end, Norwich City held on for an important win. The Canariesmoved off the bottom of the Premier League tabletemporarily with the victory over the Bees. They were back at the bottom on goal difference after Newcastle United picked up a point from their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion.

Farkebecame the Norwich City manager in 2017 and he masterminded the promotion to the Premier League two seasons ago. However, Farke and the Canaries were relegated after one season in the English top flight. The German brought Norwich City back up this season after spending last season in the English Championship.

Frank Lampard is undoubtedly one of the best players to ever grace the Premier League , but he has not recorded the same measure of success since he became a manager at Derby County in the Championship three years ago. He led the Rams to the playoffs in his only season at the club before they were beaten in the final by Aston Villa. He went on to become the Chelsea manager. Lampard was sacked at Chelsea at the start of this year.

WHICH CLUB WILL LAMPARD WORK AT NEXT?

This is a big question that has been left unanswered and a lot of people, especially Chelsea fans, are highly interested in finding out where their former manager will be working next. Lampard was appointed as manager by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic following the departure of their former boss Maurizio Sarri some months ago but the honeymoon did not last for a very long time. The appo8utbektbof Lampard was lauded by many people as they stated that it was a great move by the club to hand the job to someone who knows the in and out of the club so well, especially their culture and how it’s being run.

Former England midfielder Lampard was taking the job on the back of a spell with Derby County after he managed the lower-league side and had a brief stint with them. While a lot of people thought that Lampard would be a good fit for Chelsea, a lot of others were questioning his credentials and were keen to know if he had what it takes to handle the pressure of working at a bigger club like Chelsea

As he started his career as a Chelsea manager officially, a lot of questions were going to be answered. After his first few games in charge, fans began to feel like they have found their new long-term manager and they also called on the club to back him with some funds to make new signings as well. During his first season in charge as manager of the club, Lampard didn’t sign a single player as Chelsea were placed on a transfer ban that restricted them from signing any players.

However, after the ban, he got £200 million to spend on transfers and he brought in a couple of players. But after he could not get the best out of those players, he was sacked and had been out of management since. Fingers are crossed and he may return in the future.

MORRIS UNDER CONSIDERATION FOR SWANSEA JOB

Former Chelsea player Jody Morris is said to be under consideration for the managerial job at Welsh team Swansea City. The English Championship outfit don’t have a manager with less than two weeks before the new season starts after Simon Cooper left the job last week.

Cooper was the man who replaced present Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter at Swansea City when he left the Welsh team to take up the managerial role at the Amex Stadium. Cooper led the former Premier League team to the Championship playoffs in each of his two seasons at the club including last season when the Swans went all the way to the final before they were easily dispatched by Brentford. Swansea City missed out on a place in the Premier League as a result of the 2-0 defeat to London team Brentford.

Ex-Chelsea assistant manager Morris is said to be one of the two managers in the running for the vacant managerial job at Swansea City alongside MK Dons manager Russell Martin. Morris has been without a job since Frank Lampard was sacked as the Blues boss in January. He was the right hand man to Frank Lampard at Chelsea before the club made the decision to replace its all-time goalscorer with Tuchel.

Frank Lampard and Jody Morris were in the Chelsea dugout together when they battled to secure a Champions League place at the end of the 2019/20 season with a transfer ban.

Morris was also the assistant manager to Frank Lampard when he started out his managerial career at Derby County. They both ensured that the Rams reached the playoffs in their sole season in the dugout at Pride Park. The Swansea City target spent four years as a youth team coach at Chelsea shortly after his retirement and he has the opportunity to mentor players like Mason Mount.

42-year-old Morris enjoyed a lot of success with the Chelsea u-18s during his time as a youth team coach at the club’s training ground in Cobham.

Apart from Mount, centre back FikayoTomori also thrived under him in the Chelsea youth team.

NEWCASTLE EYEING MOVE FOR NEXT LAMPARD

Newcastle United are eyeing a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher who has been likened to club legend Frank Lampard due to his playing style. The Daily Telegraph reported that Magpies boss Steve Bruce is keen on a loan move for Gallagher as he bolsters his squad for the new campaign starting next month.

Former West Brom boss SlavenBilic is one of several football stakeholders who have drawn similarities between Gallagher and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard. Frank Lampard is the all-time leading goalscorer in the history of West London giants Chelsea and he was their manager for 18 months until January when he was sacked. German tactician Thomas Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard as the Blues manager shortly after his sack and he went on to lead the Premier League giants to a second Champions League title.

Young Chelsea midfielder Gallagher played under Bilic while he was on loan at West Brom last season before the Croatian was sacked and replaced by Sam Allardyce towards the end of last year. Gallagher, 21, had joined the Baggies on loan from Chelsea. He scored two goals and two assists for West Brom in the Premier League last season but could not prevent the club from suffering demotion to the Championship. Gallagher is not expected to stay with the Chelsea first team this season with another loan move likely for the English midfielder especially if he wants regular first team football.

Apart from Chelsea midfielder Gallagher, Newcastle United are also plotting a loan move for Arsenal star Joe Willock. Willock was one of the best players in the final weeks of the Premier League season after netting in each of his final seven games last season. In total, Willock scored eight times for the Magpies while he was on loan from Arsenal for the second half of the season.

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR LAMPARD?

Former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is currently without a club he manages and has been out of job since he was sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovic some months ago. Lampard was appointed by the Russian billionaire owner as a replacement for Maurizio Sarri and performed excellently in his first few months at the club. One of the highlights of his Chelsea managerial career was that despite not being able to sign any players, he was able to utilize the ones he had and installed an elite football mentality in them, while also guiding them to a top-four finish.

After the achievement, Abramovic thought that it was only wise to hand Lampard enough funds so he could sign a couple of players to further strengthen the squad and to also build a team capable of fighting for every available trophy in the season. However, despite getting the huge transfer investment, things did not go as planned. Lampard did sign a couple of players two summers ago and everyone thought that it was finally the time that the Blues would finally either win the Premier League or come very close.

But only a few months into the new season, Lampard was no longer the manager he used to be and he stopped getting the results he used to. Abramovic is known to be very impatient with managers and was is quick to always part ways with any coach once there are incessant negative outcomes of results on the pitch. And as a lot of people had expected, Lampard was shown the exit door at Stamford Bridge.

Since losing his Chelsea job, he has remained out of management and has been reportedly approached by a couple of clubs who have been looking for managers. Crystal Palace, Everton, and Wolverhampton Wanderers are some of those clubs but it seems he wants to take his time before venturing into management again.

TERRY CREDITS LAMPARD FOR CHELSEA SUCCESS

Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry is certain thatfellow Chelsea legend Frank Lampard played a big part in the successes recorded at the club this season despite his dismissal as the Chelsea manager in January.

Frank Lampard was sacked by club owner Roman Abramovich after a difficult run in the league. He oversaw just three wins in his final 11 games in the Premier League and that ultimately led to his unfortunate exit.

Terry drummed up support for Frank Lampard and the work he did at the club before the arrival of his successor Thomas Tuchel in an exclusive interview with The Times. According to him, Lampard played a major role in the achievements recorded under Tuchel since the German tactician arrived at Chelsea in January and that he helped groom young players like Mason Mount and Reece James.

England internationals Mount and James were regularly performers for Chelsea while Lampard was at the club and they have continued to maintain that form under Tuchel. Frank Lampard gave the two players their breakthroughs in the Premier League.

Mount was recently named the Player of the Season at the club after an impressive outing for the Blues over the course of the season . He has been influential for the Blues as they secured one of the four Premier League slots available for Champions League football. Tuchel met Chelsea in tenth spot when he replaced Lampard in the Stamford Bridge dugout and has been able to take the team to fourth position. The German led the West London club to fourth place at the end of the season on Sunday.

Apart from securing Champions League football, Mount and James played their respective parts as the Blues reached both the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
