FRANK LAMPARD FACING TWO MAJOR DECISION AT EVERTON

Everton are next in action against Newcastle United in the Premier League and Frank Lampard is facing some selection posers. The Blues suffered their second consecutive defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday evening. Second-half goals from Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg secured all three points for Antonio Conte’s side. However, with his squad now almost at full strength, Frank Lampard is set to face some significant selection dilemmas. And with that in mind, we have taken a look at the changes he could make to his starting line-up for Wednesday’s game.

Despite his mistake that resulted in the penalty in which Spurs took the lead on Saturday, one imagines Jordan Pickford will start in goal against Eddie Howe’s side, while Conor Coady, James Tarkowski and Vitaliy Mykolenko will also be given the nod to start at the back. However, with Mason Holgate close to returning, Blues boss Lampard may opt to start the defender at right-back in place of Seamus Coleman. Although that would be harsh given how well Coleman has played since returning in place of Nathan Patterson. Continue reading FRANK LAMPARD FACING TWO MAJOR DECISION AT EVERTON

VIEW: EVERTON TRANSFER BUSINESS COULD HINT AT LAMPARD TACTICS CHANGE

Everton could completely change tactics after Dwight McNeil transfer. Everton have now made their third signing of the summer with English winger Dwight McNeil and he could be key to a potential tactics revolution. The Toffees announced the purchase of the now former Burnley man on 28 July with McNeil signing a five-year deal after Ruben Vinagre and James Tarkowski came in to solidify the defence.

The 22-year-old is already vastly experienced in the Premier League with 147 appearances for the Clarets but their relegation to the Championship has forced McNeil’s exit. Everton needed to make a purchase out wide after they sold 2021-22 top-scorer Richarlison to divisional rivals Tottenham Hotspur but this is hardly a like-for-like replacement. Yes, they do play in the same position but there are some very distinct differences in their game, most notably, McNeil is left-footed and very astute at crossing the ball into the box whereas Richarlison tends to cut in onto his stronger right foot to shoot. CHELSEA ACE BILLY GILMOUR KEEN ON MOVING TO EVERTON THIS SUMMER

According to talkSPORT, Everton may have received a boost in their pursuit of Chelsea prospect Billy Gilmour. The Scottish international has emerged as a loan target for the Toffees, and the youngster is open to the switch as he wants to reunite with Frank Lampard. Gilmour joined Chelsea from Scottish giants Rangers in the summer of 2017. The 21-year-old broke into the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge under Lampard, making his senior debut in 2019. The young midfielder went on to make a big impression with some of his performances early in his career and looked primed for a more prominent role until an injury derailed his progress.

Gilmour spent the last season on loan at Norwich City and fared decently despite the Canaries getting relegated from the Premier League. Now back at Chelsea, the Scotsman finds himself way down the pecking order and is unlikely to find regular game-time under Thomas Tuchel. As a result, Gilmour could be primed for another loan exit from Chelsea, and Everton have shown an interest in the 21-year-old. The Toffees have plenty of work to do in the transfer window but not much money to spend due to their FFP violations. So, Lampard & co. will have to rely on player sales to generate funds or look at loan deals or free transfers in the market.
