Aguero Brands Lampard as His Favourite Goal Scorer

Sergio Aguero is rightly considered as one of the best strikers in the Premier League and probably in the world.

He was recently put forward the question of the player that he admired the most in the English league. Aguero has named Frank Lampard as his favourite goal scorer. Lampard and Aguero played in the same team for a short period. Lampard, though, is best known for his time with Chelsea. He is regarded as a Chelsea legend and the club’s all-time top goalscorer with more than 200 to his name.

It is an impressive tally for even a striker, and the statistic is made impressive by the fact that Lampard played as a midfielder throughout his career. When Chelsea started winning league titles after the entry of Roman Abramovich, Lampard was one of the few existing names who managed to hold their place in the first team amidst plenty of new arrivals. Lampard formed a deadly partnership with Didier Drogba to score numerous goals for the blues and lead them to every domestic title. In the end, he managed to write himself into Chelsea’s history after winning the Champions League with the club in 2012. Lampard was one of the scorers in the penalty shootout against Bayern Munich. His goal against Aston Villa made him the club’s record scorer ahead of Bobby Tambling.

“I’d like to choose Frank Lampard, who in spite of not being necessarily a striker, stands among the top goalscorers. That deserves praise. I had the chance to play alongside him and it was a valuable experience. He’s every inch a professional and a man you can respect. Without a doubt, for his goal tally and lead over everybody else, Alan Shearer deserves to be on the podium,” said Aguero while praising Lampard and former Newcastle United striker Alan Shearer.
