Abraham says Frank Lampard is the perfect manager for him

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has said that Frank Lampard is the better manager around for him, having shown the trust in the younger players at the club. The Blues have grown accustomed to relying on senior players for the first-team duties but the trend has changed under Lampard with a number of club graduates featuring in different competitions.

Of course, the transfer ban partly enforced the decision but Lampard has not been shy of dropping experienced players when they have dropped their performances levels. Speaking to Copa90, Abraham was full of praise for the former Chelsea midfielder, who has provided plenty of advice for the younger players in the squad, he told: “You know what, I’ve said it to so many people, I couldn’t ask for a better manager around. He believes in every youngster, tells you where you’ve gone wrong, tells you what you need to do, and for me he is the perfect manager.”

Fikayo Tomori, Reece James and Billy Gilmour are some of the graduates, who have made their debuts for the west London outfit this term and each of them have lived up to the manager’s expectations. There have been mistakes occasionally but that could be overcome in the long-term with the experience of playing regular first-team football.
The Blues are expected to spend big during the summer transfer window, having opted against making any new signings in January despite the transfer ban being lifted. Hakim Ziyech has already been confirmed as a summer purchase from Ajax and there could be more additions to the squad ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Prior to that, however, the Blues have a season to complete. The coronavirus outbreak has led to the suspension of the current campaign but UEFA has confirmed that plans are in place such that the domestic leagues in all European nations can be finished. Chelsea have remained in the fourth spot for the vast majority of the season but they just have a three-point advantage over Manchester United behind them.
