Frank Lampard says that the supporters of his former club will not feel aggrieved

Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard says that the supporters of his former club will not feel aggrieved about him representing Manchester City for the rest of the campaign.

After Frank Lampard’s exit from Chelsea was confirmed last summer, fans originally thought that he was going to join a MLS club. This was indeed the case after he signed for New York City FC, but he was immediately loaned back to the Premier league with Manchester City. This loan move paid rich dividends in the first half of the campaign after Lampard scored numerous goals especially in the match against Chelsea.

The 36-year-old still remains close to the West London outfit, but a small section of fans appeared to be aggrieved by the midfielder’s decision to play for a rival club. During his time with the blues, Lampard rose to being one of the all-time most number of appearance maker. He is the club’s all-time top goal scorer with more than 200 to his name. Lampard has also revealed that it was Mourinho who made him into a top player after coming into Chelsea when he was 25 years old. Despite having the talent, Lampard says that it was Mourinho who infused him with the self-confidence that transformed him.

"I had 13 years at Chelsea and I will always be a Chelsea boy because I played there and have so many memories. They decided I was moving on and at 35 you are not going to fight that. If they want you to move on you move on. Then Manchester City came in for me. it was too good to turn down.At 36, not many people get asked to play for the champions of England at the time for five months. I have got such a great relationship with the Chelsea fans. It hasn't broken it,” said Lampard.
