Frank Lampard Expect Chelsea to Win the Premier League This Season

Frank Lampard says that he expects Chelsea to win the Premier League title this season, as he does not see any club managing to close the gap on the league leaders.

Chelsea were eighth in the Premier league after having suffered a 3-0 loss against Arsenal back in September. Since that loss, the club have been able to bounce back quite impressively and established an eight point advantage over Manchester City in the second spot. A combination of Chelsea being supremely dominant coupled with other teams dropping points here and there has resulted in this substantial advantage even before the end of February.

Lampard was part of several title successes at Chelsea. After having recently announced his retirement from the game, the former Chelsea midfielder expects Antonio Conte’s team to hold on to their advantage and win a fifth Premier League title.

The club’s last title success was in the 2014-15 season when a Jose Mourinho-managed teams secured a win largely as a result of goals from Diego Costa and assists from Cesc Fabregas. This time around, Chelsea have been much more of a rounded package with plenty of options for those concerned with taking the club to the next level.

Following his retirement, Lampard has announced his decision to step into the world of management by taking the UEFA coaching licenses. "I can't see anyone catching them. They are the most organised team.Diego Costa and Eden Hazard are the difference but you've got to give the manager (Antonio Conte) a load of credit, too.And don't forget Cesar Azpilicueta. He's been brilliant. Costa and Hazard get the limelight but he's basically a right back and a centre half. He is tailor-made for that role. He's probably been player of the season," said Lampard. Even coaching is widely expected to be the next step for the 38-year-old, Lampard admitted that he remains uncertain as of now.
