Frank Lampard denies the speculations that he is mulling a move

Frank Lampard denies the speculations that he is mulling a move to Etihad Stadium.

Lampard had been a part of Manchester City the previous season on loan and he had been a star performer for them.

The Sky Blues still failed to retain their league title, but, Lampard’s performances earned him accolades from all quarters.
There were speculations that he might be in action again for the Sky Blues this summer while the season gets off in America where he is contracted to the Major League Soccer club New York City FC.

But, according to the veteran player, his body is in need of some rest at this point in time after suffering from regular injuries and thus, he would prefer to spend some time away.

The 36-year old, who has retired from the international game, was quoted as saying, “I would have loved not to have gotten injured as many times as I have done of late, but, as a professional player, you know it happens at times in a long career. I am looking to rest a little bit once my season is done over here with New York City so that going into 2016; I am in a fine shape.”

“I hope I would be able to play the whole of 2016 and we do well as a unit. I believe we have the team to challenge for the playoffs and it’s just that we have to play to what we are capable of.”

There’s a week or two to go in the ongoing season in Major League Soccer.

New York City is well and truly out of the playoffs race having been able to secure just 37 points out of their 33 games by virtue of 10 wins and 7 draws.
They are at no. 8 in the Eastern Conference points table.
