Frank Lampard backs Younger Players for 2016 Euro

Former England international Frank Lampard believes that players like Tottenham youngster Dele Alli can have a major impact at the Euro 2016.

Propelled by the presence, Lampard says that England have become a fearless outfit and could do really well at the European Championship. For several decades, the national team has failed to make any impact at a major tournament. It has not been done to the lack of talent, as the likes of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard, Paul Scholes, and Wayne Rooney have been the backbone of the national team in the last decade.

Prior to the golden generation, there were players like Alan Shearer and many more in the national team. Yet, there is a feeling that the national team could finally come good and it is provided by the presence of many youngsters. Manager Roy Hodgson has purposely selected a team with a young lineup so as to banish any memories of the previous tournaments straightaway. Even though the national team started the tournament poorly with a 1-1 draw against Russia, they have since recovered to qualify for the knockout stages quite comfortably. England will be one of the teams to watch in the tournament, according to Lampard.

The former Chelsea midfielder is currently playing with New York City FC after having moved to the MLS last summer."It's a different level of player that we're seeing emerge now -- more technically gifted, I would say, and more intelligent on the ball.Dele Alli excites me a lot. He's a goal-scoring midfielder but he's a different type of player to me. I've been so impressed by the season he has had for Tottenham. For me, he's the one who really stands out. He's straight in there in the starting XI. I'm a big Harry Kane fan. If you have only one up front, then for me it's Harry Kane,” said Lampard.
